The past two years have been a journey of discovery for me. I was searching for my passion in life and all roads seemed to lead to Liezelijn. I am a creative soul, something that is reflected in my entire being, so it was a natural decision for me to start working on my brand, Liezelijn, full-time, which I did earlier this year.
Liezelijn is a design studio where I make textile birthday crowns, illustrations, posters, greeting cards, personalised prints and logos. In my work you will see that with just a few simple lines, you can tell a colourful story. My creations have a playful, unique and recognisable house style and I love simplicity and the use of colour.
I pick up a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and when walking around town. I live in a more quiet area however I am drawn to the city life - I can walk around, full of admiration, for hours or have a cup of coffee and watch the world go by. These impressions are then translated into my creations.
I hope that I am able to grow Liezelijn into the brand I envisage it to be, and keep doing this for a long, long time!
Who was your first customer?
My son. He was the first one to wear one of my birthday crowns. The first of many! So he was not really the first someone to buy one of my products, but he was the first one to wear one.
What is your ambition as designer?
I want to create. A lot! Creating and making clients happy give me a huge sense of contentment and fulfilment. I want to keep doing what I love.
When do you consider a ceation as being successful?
When it givse me positive and happy feelings. And when the customer is satisfied.
What did you want to be growing up?
I do not really remember. I did always have a creative side - one of my teachers in primary school always said I would use my creativity one day. And she was right!
What music do you listen to?
I enjoy peaceful music from singer song writers such as Milow, James Bay,... or a random accoustic list on Spotify. When focus and concentration is really needed I listen to piano music.
Tell us something that typifies you but that we do not already know…
My positivity knows no bounds. I am almost too optimistic. However I strongly believe that the strong your positive energy is, the more positive tings will cross your path. The saying 'everything works out in the end' is totally my motto!
